18 bolt heads
will 18 bolt heads work on a stock block if you just leave out the extra bolts? Do the other holes line up the same? Seems like I read somewhere that they would but it's been a while and can't remember where I saw it.

To say 18 bolt head pattern is really not enough information. There are two distinctly different 18 bolt cylinder head patterns for the Ford Big Block engine.
The most common uses the same 10 bolts of 9/16" as the regular heads use ... the other 18 head bolt pattern, known by some as the "Pro Stock" pattern, uses slightly different locations and bolt sizes.
