short oil pump

I'm trying to find a replacement oil pump
it is only about 6" lower than blockface instead of the normal 7"
d9 block reverse sump
unsure of what model or year car /truck its from , possibly 4x4
cast numbers 0583-aa or d583-aa

any ideas

Front or rear sump? What oil pan is on it...

Sounds like you may have a pump which has been adapted from another application.

Post a picture of the oil pump, the pickup tube, and the oil pan. We'll be able to tell you what you have, where to get a new one, and/or if it can be rebuilt.
