Same here. I'm still trying to figure out the path that I want to take and the SCJ/P-51 decission is something that I'm wanting to figure out as well.lghting94 wrote:I am not the kind of person to just spend money I like to look at every angle I can think of and plan everything I possibly can before I start then I will start collecting the parts for the build as my funds allow.
Nice looking rig you got there. I'd like to think that mine is the positive image!cletus66 wrote:You have the negative image of my truck. Freaky !!!

Well, I bought the SCJ's from Lem, I think they will do everything I want, my goals arent as big as other. I'd like an honest 600 hp I think they should have no problem making that. Thats more then my heavy cougar with my heavy self can use. And I will still have room to grow

well if flow Numbers or not important why in the Hell do we even have them ported????? why not just take them as the are right out of the Box and just bend over and take it like a man????? in that case then why not just use factory casted heads they have to be right you know the Factory made them.....
The Fact is the Flow Numbers are a part of the Big Picture, but you have to have all of the components matched.

Randy I agree that flow numbers are important but not the complete picture as you stated and Mr Malik stated earlier all things must match for the combo and intent of your specific build.

After so many years, still true ?
This is an older thread, but is it still true that the SCJ heads,A460s favored over the P-51 heads ?

Kaase has came out with the SR-71 heads in the last few years, they are pretty damn good.

A P-51 Kaase head is essentially a thicker as-cast version of a ported SCJ head with a few other improvements like CNC combustion chamber shape and valve bowls with better rocker stud alignment for high valve lift.

Doesn't his P-71 need special machining will not work on regular 460 block ?
Something like that anyway...
How about other heads ?

The P-71 will work on a regular 460 block but i'm sure it would need to be .030 over or more on the bore!!

The SR-71 will mate to a stock block with a 4.390" bore if the exhaust valve is made a little smaller, (1.710" Cleveland Cobra Jet size), and Kasse's will do that change "out of the box" if you ask them.

Most of the time I agree, but just because something is lower in cost, doesn't mean it's cheap in quality.
