The aluminum hood was kicking my butt so we got it close and cleaned it up with a little bond then wrapped it with a carbon fiber skin.
Till I have more time this winter to mess with the hood and blister a temporary scoop was made with some scrap lexan lying around the shop and it happened to be smoked --- came out pretty cool.
My wife said I have to put a picture of me in here. The first pass after the moderate licensing was an 8.67 @ 157.94 MPH
Two words sum this up Bad Ass!!

Had an intermtent electrical problem with the trans brake. Found a broken wire. Haven't had a chance to make any tuneup changes. Best performance to date 8.58 @ 160.44 MPH.

Donyou have an idea of about how much tube actually went into this build. I'm thinking 25.2 cage, but i domt know how much material to buy. Thinking the majority will be upsized to 1 5/8 for structure and simplicity. Does 25.1 specify details on fromt or rear of vehicle as I'm looking for input was told the book will give ideas and 25.2 shows nothing. Thanks and awesome build.

litshoot;
Do you have the SFI 25.2 spec? The individual Specs booklet of about 20 pages are available from SFI for about $40.00 each. 25.1 is for 6.00 second cars 2800 Lbs. Max. 25.2 is for 6.00 second cars 3200 Lbs. max. The NHRA Tech boys lean towards the 25.2 as running larger alcohol Fuel tanks -- Blowers -- and related support equipment easily puts you over the 2800 Lbs. max of 25.1. There is more tubing in the 25.2.There are 7 different size tubes for these Specs sooooo??? All of the SFI specs only address the Drivers compartment area. From the Firewall forwarding the main hoop rearward you need to refer back to the regular NHRA rulebook.

Re: 25.1E ------- 64 Fairlane
Yes I have the 25.2 does that weight included driver. I had started the idea of a mostly street build that would evolve, but wanted to make sure everything was inline to build it. I was planning on using more 1 5/8 because you can go oversized, 100 foot 1.5 vs 1 5/8 is only 33 pounds more overall and simplify the tools and materials needed. I was making a 10 point as close to 25.2 specs as I could so in future retrofit will be adding bars with exception of seatbelts bar needing to be changed for funny car cage mounting. Just trying to find an idea of how much material goes in. Original thought had. Been about 140 feet of 1 5/8, 100 feet of 1.5 a piece of 1 1/8, 40 feet of 1 inch, a section fo 3/4, and disnt find a number for how much 1 1/4 I would need.

Back from vacation and just read your post. Could not find anything in the rules that specifically state the weight includes driver. I would be very surprised if it did not include driver. If I were that close that driver wieght made the difference I would go to the next higher spec.
Aircraft Spruce www.aircraftspruce.com has a catalog of parts that cater to the home build aircraft hobby. They sell 4130 tube by the foot along with other materials in small quantities. This might help with the tubing issue.

4 link Brackets
Just an incredible build!
I am also doing a fairlane with 2x3 tube. I am in the middle of figuring out 4 link brackets and I am stuck on the general design of the brackets. I noticed you made your own for this car. Could you please shed some light on the design process?

Re: 25.1E ------- 64 Fairlane
The rear end housing that I used was a Chris Alston fab 9 from a car that only had 6 passes on it with the housing brackets already installed. To keep the front bracket geometry the same that Chris designed into it I copied his layout from one of his front brackets. The Changes I made was for the mounting location to the chassis. Some of the suggestions I would make is use 1/2 inch holes laid out an arch to match your bar length to make it easier for location changes. Buy using 1/2 inch holes in the brackets they can be spaced 3/4 of an inch apart giving a finer adjustment than if you used 5/8 or 3/4 inch holes that would require wider hole spacing. Rod ends are available with 3/4" shank and 1/2" ball hole.

Interesting you ask because the car has a clear title and a non-op with DMV. The only lights the car has now is tail lights. So what ever your State requires for lights and mufflers street tires ect--ect-- ect it would be need.

Yes . I agree.
That tool box fits perfectly in the trailer. I was thinking of doing something similar, Just never saw a snap on like that.
What model tool box is that?

The way I ended up with this box was looking for a snap-on box with the proper dimensions to fit and found it on crags list.
The reason for snap-on is to hold up better than the cheap boxes going down the road in the trailer.
