302/c6 mini starter

Does anyone know if a starter from a 92F150 302 engine will work with an earlier 302/c6 set up? Or can you recommend a starter that will work?

That will work as long as the original trans is an automatic too.

Ok. I pulled a 302 with a C6 behind it and the starter looks like a mid 80's type (BIG) with the starter gear approximately in the middle. But the 90's 5.0 mini starters have the starter towards the bottom.
