460 d0ve-c heads and rollar rockers
Hi all and thanks for the add! I've been scrolling around here for awhile trying to find the answer to my question but would like some clarification. I have a bone stock 77 460. I will be adding a small cam from Crane (h272-2). I will also be adding an intake, Straight up timing chain, the springs retainers and locks will also be changed to the recommended ones from Crane. All of this will be added to D0ve-c heads instead of the d3ve heads currently on the motor. My main question is the heads currently have positive stop rocker studs measuring 1.9 from top of the threads to the bottom of the hex head that screws against the head. I'd like to add rollar rockers and guide plates to this setup and if I'm correct I can use big block Chevy studs measuring 1.75 from the top of the threads to the bottom of the hex on top of the guide plates to eliminate the need to mill the bosses. Is this correct?
Thanks all!

You must be careful when using BBC studs as the have an unthreaded portion under the hex. Put a stud into the hole in the guide plate and check to see if the unthreaded portion sticks out beyond the guide plate. If it does , check for a recess in the head. The reason for this is I used some BBC studs without checking on a 351C and cracked the stud bosses because of the unthreaded portion going into the threads in the head. Simple check to save a potential problem,

Ok, I will go ahead and order the Chevy studs. Twist them in by hand to see how far down they will go, if they screw in the whole way I know I'll be good to use them with my guide plates if not I'll just get the bosses milled .230 and the stud hole milled down to .880 and tapped and then I should definitely be good. Anyone have good rocker choice? I'm leaning towards a set of scorpions or comp golds in the 1.73 ratio
Thanks for your help guys!
