Ford Racing SCJ Head Rocker Stud
So I'm threading in my rocker studs by hand and all but 2 thread in nice. 2 of them bind up after a turn or two. I tried them in different locations, same thing. I figure maybe there's a slight burr on them from being in the bag, so I attempt to run them through a die to clean the threads. Not a chance. Because of the way the die cut, I can only guess they were metric studs instead of the 7/16s. Anyway, I need 2 studs now. Does anyone know if I can buy just 2 studs? I can only find the part number for the full set of 16.

They may be the right thread, but just slightly to large in diameter??.....if you have a home set of dies, you can try running the correct die thread cutter on them to see if it 'cuts down' the existing thread.

I tried that. It went over the first thread, marred the second and destroyed the third. No chance the threads were correct.

Like Randy says, ARP does sell packs of two. One word of caution about ARP fasteners. ARP rolls their threads into their bolts and studs, and not cut like something you would get from a hardware store. Essentially threads are forged into the product and that makes the threads stronger, never use a die on them.

Thanks for the info guys. I measured these 2 studs with my micrometer today and they are 1.655"... So they must have gotten mixed up somewhere along the lines. Anyway, it's not slowing me down too much as I can still measure my pushrod length from another cylinder and get those ordered up. Seeing as I have a Jomar stud girdle, do the M-6527-C311 studs work ok or should I go with a different set? If they're ok, I'll buy 2 from ARP or if another set would be a better fit, I'll order them up.

The correct SCJ stuff should be fine.....a guy could use the longer P51 deals.

Thanks for all the info guys. I was unaware of the rolled threads vs cut threads.
Lem, I'll reply to your PM on the other site.
