Converting 429 from vbelts to Serpentine
I have a 429 block 1970 and want to convert it it to serpentine.
I have heard that I need to go to junkyard an find a 5.0 and remove parts.
Which parts?
Just pulleys, brackets, power steering pump, alternator or just what?
Thanx

Your going to be best off finding a late model 460 and getting everything off it if your looking to go inexpensive

Most "serpentine" belt set-ups on a big block Ford engine don't work very well at all when the water pump rotates in reverse rotation.
Use the later F.I. factory "Poly Vee" set-ups which use two ribbed belts.
There are some expensive true serpentine single belt set-ups in the aftermarket which keep the water pump turning in the correct direction which are pretty pricey for everything needed.

Or just get the later model water pump too!! that way, everything is correct.

No, No, No ...
A later model water pump is also meant to be turned in the SAME direction as any older water pump for the big block Ford; just using TWO ribbed belts so, it doesn't turn backwards.
The later small block Mustang pulley set-ups ALL turn ANY big block water pump in the reverse direction.
I have seen some people try milling out the involute within the pump itself, having marginal success.
Do whatever you want. So, can he ... he can always do it all again.

Try CVF Racing, they have a lot of belt set ups for 429/460. including serpentine set ups.

The CVF stuff is pretty nice and the most reasonably priced of aftermarket accesory setups but you'll still pay around 700 for an alt, ps, and a.c. setup. March is also nice but around 850 from memory. The thing with these setups is that they have about 50 pieces that get lost easily.
If cost is a concern just order the EFI brackets off ebay if you can't find them locally. They are simple and you can get a set for like 200 bucks or less. I recently got an AC/PS EFI bracket from an E350 off ebay for 100 bucks shipped. Even came with a Saginaw pump still on the bracket.

What accessories are you planning on running? I have heard of people running the 5.0l stuff including turning the waterpump backwards and they claim it still works but I am not sure how... You can look for a 90's crown vic setup as they use the correct waterpump rotation.
If you are looking for simple and cheap just get the 460 truck pulleys and build brackets.
