Valvetrain Geometry
What is proper valvetrain geometry? Having the rocker arm centered on
the valve stem through the range of motion? Push rod perpendicular to
the rocker arm?
I did look around on the net and found the below link helpful, but it talks about roller tipped rockers. Mine are the factory stamped rockers.

Re: Valvetrain Geometry
A factory type, non roller tipped rocker arm has completely different criteria than its roller tipped bretheren.
The rocker tip should sorta roll on the tip of the valve as it opens with as LITTLE scraping motion as possible. This usually means a tip pattern where the contact is on the very inside, (but not on the edge), and goes toward the outside of the valve stem tip using 75% of the area on the tip of the valve. A WIDE pattern however, centered on the valve tip.
A narrow tip pattern with a non roller rocker arm is a NO-NO because then there is an abundance of SLIDING motion happening there which will ultimately be bad for valve guide / valve stem wear along with excessive rocker tip wear...
