Re: No oil getting to driver side valvetrain
what priming tool are you using, It should be the same dimensions as a standard distributor if my memory serves me right, might check that

did you use restrictors? Did you install all the plugs correctly?

Im using a priming rod from summit, I believe u are thinking of the chevys on that aspect.
Jay from Idt Racing assembled my short block so I have no idea if it is correct, but Im sure they put restrictors in.

I didn't watch all the video, please excuse me. I noticed a tool attached to the crankshaft bolt, did you rotate the engine 90 degrees often while priming the oil system? It seems to me some oil should have found it's way to the driver's side. Rotate the engine 360 degrees, 90 degrees at a time and maybe it will help!

...or remove the valve covers and peek inside at the lifters.dfree383 wrote: lifters installed in the correct direction

update
Talked to jay from IDT and followed his instructions. I pulled the intake to first verify lifters are in correctly, which they are. I then removed driver side pipe plug from the boss in intake valley, primed motor and still no oil. I then removed the passenger side pipe plug and primed, no oil. I then removed cylinder 5 lifters and primed and no oil.
Looks like I will be pulling the motor. I was told maybe 1 of the plugs in rear of motor may be in too far or something to that nature. Sucks to be me:(
Jay did return my call pretty quick, IDT racing has always had excellent customer service as far as Im concerned. Will keep everyone posted.

Re: No oil getting to driver side valvetrain
If it has oil in the passenger side, it must have a restriction in the valley crossover.
Or the front plug is in to far and blocking oil to the passenger side enough that it don't have enough volume to cross over to the drivers side.

found what the issue is
With the help of Blake (idt572) found what the issue is. the cross over boss in the intake valley was not machined all the way through to the lifter galley on the passenger side. see pics below. They came up about 1/2 inch short of the lifter passage.

Now the question is why didn't the builder find this when they were assembling it?

It was good to hear that you found it before any damage was done.

You get a "at a boy" for noticeing that oil wasn't getting where it needed to be. I've talked to racers that have no idea how to prime a engine, much less know what to look for.Glad you found it.

That "Blake the Snake" is a fmart smella! Good thing somebody was thinking "inside the box" and as been previously commended, your attention to detail and the intelligence to ask for assistance. Good job!
