10.5 on motor, am i shooting for the moon
I have started the build of my 95 stang, I have always had a craving to build a bbf hot rod. As for I have gathered for parts is a truck 460 not sure what the bore is yet, but I do know it has less than 10k miles on the build of the motor. I has dove heads on it, and in a late 80 ford four door dually it would pull with a duramax and it would also smoke the tires rom a dig. I know this was all from torque, but would I be unrealistic to think that a 11:1 stock bottom end, with ported dove heads, and custom ground solid roller, and keeping the converter around 3500 at max in a 3400 pound car. Is it crazy to think to go 10.5 with this

Not crazy at all, but setting a goal is good to do!!
You may have to get the weight down a bit, and do some suspension tuning. Also, you may need a bit more converter (depending what rear gears you run also).

I am doing as much as I can to get the weight down and keep it a street car. I will have a molly front frame rails and core support, molly k-member, manual brakes and ps, delete a/c heater box, aluminum seats and so on. I just cant bring my self to get rid of the power windows, so the doors will remain heavy. The rear factory four link will full adjustable upper and lower control arms like a regular 4 link. I am really hoping to be around 3200 pounds with the iron headed motor, but I know that I am doing enough to keep it from gaining any weight with the big block and cage.

Shooting for the moon....no but 11.20's are more realistic at that weight. 11.0's are attainable as a happy number.
What's so special about 10.50's? You will need a cage for anything below 11.50 discounting a roll bar that's not got much time advantage going to 11.00
Much easier to just use better heads and stroke it to 521 where you can go bottom 10's with under 11 to 1 compression on pump gas. a good bracket/street car.

The way I am looking at building my car, cause I am a broke ass hot rod builder, is spend more on suspension and chassis/cage cause my time is cheap.. lol. And get a respectable hot rod making passes on a budget motor that will see more street than track, but the car will be ready for a hammer to be dropped in.

The short block is from a 76 f250 dished piston,runs on 93
doves heads, solid cam,vic intake, heads and intake are ported, but not crazy by my thoughts. Solid lifter flat cam. hooker swap headers for fox body
1150 carb
COMPLETELY STOCK SUP on this car, with over 100,000 miles on it, has drag shocks, thats it, no after market k member,a arms or anything
we have been 10.20s with close to the same combo in a better car

a BIG part depends on how well the heads are ported but it is always IMO good to have goals.
