Any recommendations? I've heard valvaline vr1. 351w with a comp flat tappet cam. This engine had been sitting for 5 years. thanks

Amsoil 10W-40 "Premium Protection" fully synthetic oil; especially if it has hydraulic flat tappets.

For break in or typical running?

I last used the Joe Gibbs break in oil with good results. Then switched to Castrol afterwards.

YES ... Don't use any synthetic oil for Break-In.  Use a good quality flat tappet, break-in oil, available from many different oil companies.

I hear all the time from people, "That oil is to expensive" and I simply have to laugh.
I guess the engine which probably cost a bunch more money is not as important.

Is the cam already broken in??.....or it was a fresh rebuild, but never fired up for 5 years??
