APC piston coating
Has anyone done this? I'm looking at a rebuild with using the same pistons where the bore will need to go up .005
Coating piston skirts will be .0025 radially.
These guys are in my backyard. https://www.line2linecoatings.com/
Its hard to believe that a high tech powder coating can do this.

Haven't gone .005, but I used Swain and went .003 with excellent results - after 4 years/17,000 miles both the piston skirts and the bores looked great, and were within .001 of the measurements when installed.

Re: APC piston coating
I don't have much faith in using piston skirt coating to increase the size of a used piston. I've seen some that were done where the coating was worn completely away and after that happened the rings REALLY wore the cylinder bores. Most of the coatings that you see are designed to be sacrificial and in the instructions on a lot of pistons they say to not allow extra clearance for the coating. If the piston is really designed to run with say .0025 clearance I've seen them come in right on the intended bore size and work that way.

Line to line "claims" their coating will do it. Certainly better than "knurling" the skirts LOL.
