Re: LS VS Cleveland
Very interesting info. I've been told that a motor doesn't know what name is on its valve cover. Must be true.

Had a 351c 2 v with a 500 Holley BBL I put in a 75/76 Gran torino. Back in highschool, beat all the Chevy boys back then with hopped up ABC's in there Nova's and Camaros. That Cleveland was stock except carb. Wish I had it back!!!

Re: LS VS Cleveland
Someone is actually making an attempt to compare a Canted, splayed valve head to a non-canted inline valve head ...
REALLY ???
REALLY ???
Re: LS VS Cleveland
At first I didn't think he meant the new "LS" but rather the old LS big block Chevy then I read further. His comparison makes zero sense.

Re: LS VS Cleveland
I think the OP is looking at a comparison of the Cleveland 4 bbl head to the LS7 427 Cheby BB head. And the HP and air flow of those two engines at peak RPMs.
I always thought they looked similar, as does the Ford 385 series heads.

You Bet ...
Re: LS VS Cleveland
That is some of the most ridiculous information I've ever seen. The only correct thing is that the bolt spacing is the same.
Comments like the cam is almost the same as a 351CJ ( hydraulic flat tappet) as an LS7 ( hydraulic roller) , and the ports are almost the same size as a 351C4V are the ramblings of someone who is clueless. This is all besides the canted vs non canted 8.5* versus 15( or 12) degree that Randy mentioned already. And since when does George have a "flow bench calibrated" eye? Legend in his own mind for sure.

The comparison is not with the Chevy big block head, but rather, the modern LS series cylinder head. He is comparing flow rates and such.
I think a Cleveland with a much improved head like the CHI or AFD heads would still make more power than the LS 7 but probably not much, as the LS series motors have 40+ years of technology advancement on the small block Ford.

George reads books and looks at pictures. I doubt he has ever run a flow bench and I'm sure he has never built a Chevy LS. BUT he's an authority!!!!

I wonder if he believes BBC and 429-460 heads are also copies of Cleveland heads?
