Mid 1970s Big Car 460 Engine Mounts
Hey guys. Been trying to find the correct motor mounts for my '74 Cougar. It has 2 piece mounts--a plate that bolts to the block and the isolator/rubber part bolts to it and the frame.
All I can find on line and my local auto parts are a 1 piece. It physically bolts to the block but without the spacer plate of the stock one, it would drop the engine lower and also be narrower side to side and maybe not line up with the holes in the frame because of that. What am I missing?
Top is 1971 Mustang 429 mounts--similar to what I need. Bottom is what my auto parts store got me.

Thank you, Mark. That's what Scotty J told me as well and pointed me to a classic car parts site. They actually had the driver side mount and I bought it.Mark Miller wrote:Try looking up a 1974 T-Bird with a 460 Motor Mount and see if those look like what you need!!
Just have to find the passenger side now.

No problem, funny story back in the early 90's i put a 460 in a 78 LTD II that i had that came with a 351 M in it!!I knew the early to mid 70's 460 T-Bird mounts would work found a 73 or 74 T-Bird with a 460 in it in a JY about 10 miles from my house.I took tools a bottle jack and i don't know what else and took the motor mounts of that car in the JY with tall weeds and probably bees nests all around it,it was a pain in the ass but i got the mounts i needed!!
