2nd gear start
With a C-6 having a similar ratio in 2nd to a power glide in low would it hurt the C6 leaving the line in 2nd to lower the SLR? Car is approx 2850# ladder bars w/14.5 x 32 tires and 4.56 gear. Made 901 ft lb torque na. Converter stall speed target was 6000-6100, have not verified it yet.
Thanks, Sheldon G

Frank was doing a 2nd gear transbrake C6 from memory. He'd be the man to answer for sure

Yep,
Last I heard he wasn't happy with them yet & was doing some fine tuning on them.

Wouldn’t there be enough benefits (weight, power loss, strength, part availability, etc...) to justify switching up the combo and going to a glide?

Re: 2nd gear start
Maybe,
I think the C-6 is plenty strong when built right; parts availability doesn't seem to too much of an issue. For heads up, I can see a reason if you need the quickest possible e.t. but for bracket racing in my opinion I think they are good. Consistency wise, one less shift of a 2 speed may be better but with the old iron headed engine the c-6 was very consistent but with less hp. I do wish there was an aftermarket case available.

Sheldon , to be honest I see no need for a 2 speed C6 on low HP apps , just my opinion , I've been designing this for our 4000+ hp turbo motors , as far as needing an aftermarket case for a C6 I see no need as there are no case lugs to fail like a th400 or a weak case design like a pg.

Re: 2nd gear start
I talked to the guys at Reid and they said as long as they couldn't sell between 500 and a 1000 cases a year it wouldn't be worth the money to develop a C6 SFI case. I think so many Ford racers have switched to GM based transmissions that the ship has sailed and the aftermarket availability on parts and gear ratios is pretty impressive. That being said my truck and I are ready for a 2nd gear brake from Frank when he's got them perfected.

2nd gear transbrake
Id be very interested in the 2nd gear trans brake ,even with the shift flair. im gearing to just run one gear in the mud kinda like the powerglide boys are doing . This would be a cheap alternative to going to a powerglide .
