460 oil pressure
hi i have a 1996 ford 460 that i got to put in my 1975 frod F-150 i got the motor out of a motor home with only 15k on it but when i start it up it has good oil pressure but when it gets warm it drops to about 20lbs which is some what normal but when i rev it up the oil pressure drops down instead of going up (thats checking it at the back of the motor behind the intake) then i tested it in the front by the oil filter and it goes up when reving it up like normal so i went ahead and pulled the motor apart to bare block and replaced the cam bearings main bearings rod beatings rings and oil pump and still have the same problem i cleaned the oil galley from the rear oill sending unit to the rear main brg. especially good im at a loss at this point any and all help would be greatly appreciated THANKS Brad

Did you change the oil pump pickup tube also it might be cracked and not picking the oil up when it gets hot

Did you remove or change any of the oil gallery plugs?

Re: 460 oil pressure
i had a problem with a bent pushrod, engine ran ok, but was actually a cylinder down when spinning it up the lifter wouldn't lift up and allow oil to bypass, slow down it would drop back in place to divert oil correctly. not likely, but possible.

Better check your oil gallery plugs, maybe whoever rebuilt the engine put the wrong plugs in the front.
