Advice re inlet manifold to suit 521
Hi,
I'm looking to build up a 521 for street use and at some point this coming year I will be ordering a pair of P51s to use.
I already have an Offenhauser Duel Port 360 and the question is, will this fit the P51s?
If not, the Kaase site sells the Edelbrock Victor 4150 and 4500. Which would you recommend bearing in mind that hood clearance is tight?
I do already have a good Barry Grant 1100 CFM Street Demon Double Pumper carb which could be used.
Thanks,
Andy

Not knowing how much hood clearance that you have the victor would be best. Short clearance packages are best with the Edel Torker 2. I dont see any advantages using a dual plane with stroker builds.

Unless it's a tow truck

So are the P51's going to be available again next year?

Thanks for the replies.
I appreciate that there is a lead time on the P51s which is ok as I'm in no rush. Hopefully they will be available.

Offy shows them to fit SCJ ports.

A 565 CID just went 9.31 in the F.A.S.T series with a modified dual plane factory intake, with a 4150 Holley, so there's that.
As for as dual planes for hood clearance and Dominators, if you could find a Blue Thunder, it would fill the bill.

Below is a modified one, opened up and the divider trimmed down.

The Offy Dual Port is not what you want. They are pretty decent for low rpm and part throttle fuel economy and that’s all. If you don’t have good clearance the Torker 2 seems to work good up to 6000 rpm …… if you don’t need it to pull hard under 2700 rpm. The Edelbrock Performer is a stump puller but signs of at 5000 rpm. If you’ve got the hood clearance the RPM Perfomer is tough to beat between 2000 and 6000 rpm and makes better torque than the oversized Stealth runners.

Hi Guys.
Many thanks for your replies. They are appreciated.
I'm over in the UK and as I've mentioned before, we get hit hard with both shipping costs and then approx 45% on top of everything for import duties etc. We therefore have to choose parts wisely.
Taking your great advice, I think that the Edel Torker 2 is probably the best route to go.
The engine is going in a lightweight street car and I'm looking for a max of about 600bhp (!). Any more than that and it will be undriveable, especially due to bodywork limitations on the rear wheel width.
Thanks,
Andy
