Crank stroke 4.3 or 4.5? Pros/Cons Empty Crank stroke 4.3 or 4.5? Pros/Cons

Well since I dont have any more 4.5 cranks laying around other than the one that is sold now. I am debating on downsizing to a 4.3 stroke crank. Other than a few cubes what specificlly is the advantage to a 4.5 crank? I cant seem to think of anything other than the CID advantage.

Discuss...

and yes I did a search, didnt come up with a thing scratch

the only thing I can think of Jerry is the loss of the bigger torque the 4.5 provides.

Both have their place and applications. Cool

In most cases, I have a personal preference for the 4.3/6.8 combo. At BDC, this combo puts the piston pin only 0.030" lower in the bore than a bone stock 460.

Pretty much what I thought too. What Paul mentioned is worth noting. I wont need the extra torque of 40 cubes with the blower.

So Paul wouldnt this be a more reliable motor with a 4.3 stroke? maybe not much but slightly?

I don't know about more reliable, but I feel the 4.3 crankshaft is a better "fit" to the cylinder block all the way around...almost like the 385 Series block was designed for the 4.3 crankshaft and that the 4.5 is the stroker, if you know what I mean. The 4.3 fit's the overall block configuration like a glove.

sorry I missed your question. its an A 460 block so no issues there.

to that effect Ive already decided to scale back down to a 4.3 crank, It's already in the works.
