Blessed to be alive! Empty Blessed to be alive!

Sometimes, life throws you a curve that is unexpected. On Dec. 4, 2023....I suffered not one, but two strokes.
First one at home, I passed out and collapsed. I don't know how long I was unconcious for, but when I came to, I luckily had my phone next to me. Called 911 and the paramedics came and whisked me away to the hospital.
However, the wait was long.....several hours, as the emergency room was already overfull. During this wait time, I suffered another stroke. It felt like being hit by lightning. I fell out of the wheelchair onto the emergency room floor, and I was throwing up, convulsing, and flapping around like a fish out of water. A team of nurses rushed me to a room and then I passed out.
I had slipped into a coma. I became aware and revived almost a week later. When I woke up, I was full of IV's, a heart monitor, and a cap on my head that monitors brain waves/signals. The doctors said my heart stopped two separate times during this time, and that they took measures to restart it again. They said that I was almost certainly expected to not make it.
I spent all of December in the hospital. But now I'm back home and feeling much better, but I have some permanent conditions that affect me.

No, I did'nt need any surgery. My heart recovered just fine, but my nerve system took a beating! Often times, I get shakey like when you're co;d, but it's when I'm not cold. I get winded and run down a lot more easily than I did before.
Still, I am thankful that I am not completely incapacitated!

Great you made it ... I had a similar situation 23 years ago. I made it to the bedroom and passed out, face down, on the bed to wake-up 2 days later with the partial loss of my right side motor functions for about a year.
Didn't even realize I had a stroke till I got to the hospital afterward.

I understand what a blessing this really is ... Great to hear you are OK.

I permanently lost the memory of half of my vocabulary but,
looking at the bright side, I have learned a lot of synonyms to use.

Well, an update here....on 7/18/24, I had a heart attack at home. Thank God it was gradual instead of sudden!
Spent almost a week in the hospital. At first, they said I needed one stint to open up a clogged artery. But further evaluation showed that I needed 4 stints! Shocked
The Cardiologist said that 4 of my main arteries were 80-90% clogged, and that I was on the edge of death at any moment!
It's another radical life changing event to say the least.
I'm only 55 years old, and I seen my life flash before my eyes. All the memories of childhood, and growing up, and all the people in my life.....I seen it all.
There was no light at the end of the tunnel, but I did experience a warm love so great, that human words cannot even describe it. Absolutely amazing. I could actually feel the presence of a love so great, it's beyond comprehension.
I love all you guys, even if we disagree on somethings.
I know now that nothing in this world means anything, as far as money, and material things. Be thankful for every day!
