Re: interesting suspension read
I have read some of Mr Shope's stuff over on the Hardcore site from time to time.
I think in one aspect you could make a comparison between him & Dave Morgan. When writing down their explainations of suspension theroy for a mass audence to read, they both tend to over explain the math to some degree. Granted Shope probably does this more than Morgan as I have heard (but don't know for sure) that in Morgan's seminars he is more simple & "down to earth" with his explanations vs how he wrote his "Door Slammer" book.
And it seems to me (just my opinion) that they both seem to look at suspension theory in a more rigid mechanical heavily geometrical and/or math formula sense to where if you do "A + B" it always equals "C". But thinking about suspension theory from a purely mechanical standpoint (as if the suspension moved on it's own, without any outside influence) isn't the whole picture. An important factor that some of that geometry & math leaves out is the variable of engine torque. Sure thinking about math/geometry based suspension theory is fine....to a point (it's great for bench racing). But it can't accurately factor in the effect engine torque has making/forcing the suspension to move.
In the end actually going to the track is the only way to know for sure what effect any given suspension setting is ACTUALLY going to have in combination with the rest of the combo, and what's really going to happen.

Now can Nick pass the test of starting a Bar and Grill like "hidden" board only members can see (you know, say something like yellowbullet started) for some not so "politically correct" content to liven things up a little.

Re: interesting suspension read
Nick, don't get the mistaken idea that I'm saying don't read Shope's/Morgan's stuff, nothing could be farther from the truth. All I'm saying is the geometry/physics side of suspension theory isn't the whole picture.
By all means do read their stuff. Just don't do these gentlemen a disservice like some do an skim a limited amount of what they have wrote & decide you have read enough. You have to really read it.
