6.0l questions Empty 6.0l questions

I have a friend that has a 06 F350 with a 6.0l and it has 95k. He has had minimal problems so far but he is worried that something major could go wrong. He is mostly worried about the EGR issues and the head bolts/gasket issue. I got him on the Ford-trucks.com site and he found out plenty about the EGR problem be he is wondering what it costs to replace the head bolts/gasket should something go wrong. I tried a search for the cost but couldn't find anything. So, what does it cost? Does he need to worry or if it was a problem should already have happened? The truck is all stock and he plans to keep it that way.

upgraded? yeah right.

A typical egr/oil cooler/ headgasket repair is in the 3500.00 dollar range.............and the possibility of it happening are pretty good.

We were reading on the Ford-Trucks site and it was posted that you could just unplug the egr and it will be alright. I have never heard of this Jon have you?

The engine has a 5 year 100k warranty. But if its not broke you can't just go in and "get it all done".

Unhooking the egr will not prevent the coolers from blowing out, an egr delete can though.

I'd drive the pos, and if and when it does have a cooler or hg issue I'd bite the bullet and take it to a reputable tech and get it all done.................ie pull the cab and do the hg's, coolers with an egr delete, dummy plugs replaced, stc fitting etc etc.

As I type this i have an out of state 07 towed in for a died while driving.............top inj seal blew out on #8, 26,000 miles on it.............

Best preventitive you can have for the 6.0/6.4 is always carry a charged cell phone.
