Cylinder Wall Finishing
Anyone seen or used Laser Structuring in their cylinder walls? Heard "some" Pro-Stock guys are using it, and none where FORDS. Pretty neat process, I was told that "they may not see the difference down low but top end pull tells the story"

I've heard of that technology but I don't know anyone personally who's using it but it sounds expensive.

Re: Cylinder Wall Finishing
I can find out, I was at Gehring for two days last week during a machine run off. It will be later next week but I will find out what condition the block needs to be when it is sent to them. I believe they will hone it to your spec's after the laser process is done. I couldn't drag any more info from them on who was using it, just that "Pro Stock boys don't what you to know". You would think for a 1.5 Million $ Honing machine they would tell me something

For that kind of money you would think so. Thanks for sharing regardless. I'd never heard of it before.

Re: Cylinder Wall Finishing
I wonder how the round holes or square holes in the cylinder walls make a differance? That is if that's what they are talking about.

Or maybe they won't tell you who's using the process because nobody does, you never know....

Re: Cylinder Wall Finishing
Sounds interesting, wonder how much it cost. Are the holes just to hold the oil?
