Just finished reading it. I just glanced thru it, but noticed one mistake - the Boss being the only 385 engine to have 4 bolt mains. I know this is wrong because I have a factory 4 bolt SCJ sitting in my shop.

I read that too. The one thing I found interesting was the following statement.
Regardless, the thing would look badass hanging out the hood of my Pinto.
and unlike most 385-series blocks, was perfectly happy being bored .080 over.

Yup! But what do you expect? These guys are all so used to building up the SBC/BBC combo's, that it'll take them some time to get used to how things roll with a real engine that has so much more potential than what they've been working with in the past.
It "IS" very cool to see the BBF starting to get the recognition it deserves.

Yeah, I noticed the 0.80 thing too. What they don't tell you is you have to bore a Chebbie 0.40 to just get the stock bore size of the Ford. Those mags have always ragged on the 460 about it's paper thin cylinder walls - a lot of their disinformation came from them thinking the BBF was just a 1.3 version of a 351C. I remember a buildup back in the 70's or 80's where they didn't want to exceed 500 hp because the stock block and crank wouldn't take it. I think they made 540 hp by mistake, and they didn't know what they were gonna do with such a timebomb on their hands.

Ya just gotta remember...those guys are writers...NOT engine builders. They, mostly, just write what somebody else says.
Great Build
That was a great but $$$$ build.

I HATE how they rag on the 72 Gran Torino because it's "heavy and big", Chevelles are just as big AND they're heavier to boot! Only reason you dont see them left, right, and center is because for every 5 Chevells chevy made Ford made ONE Gran Torino (this includes the 2 door, Sport roof, 4 door, AND station wagon). Chaps my ass eight ways from hell!!!

There is definately a Chevy Biase in all the mags from Hot Rod, PHR, Car Craft, etc.
