Re: Starter????
Will be running the DB Electrical on this build. I had a Big End brand, looks exactly like Hitachi, still have it but the drive end housing was damaged when a rod came out by it and cant find another housing . Then there is the old standby, the stock starter, (heavy) that has been used off and on since 87.

Cheap enough to buy an extra one for a back-up.

Re: Starter????
I have a Summit high torque mini starter, and it's been great for street use for over quite a few years now.

Re: Starter????
Just ordered 2 dbelectric last week. They have to be modified before they will fit my TCI midplate/glide adapter plate. Using a modified Lakewood mini starter,it works great on LiL Tweety's 144 inline 6.

I pulled up the ad and it looks like the selonoid mounts below the starter or they have the pictiure negatives reversed (uncommon in the digitial world) Can anyone that has purchased the DB starter confirm if the selonoid locates on top (above) like the factory setup - are the pictures inverted ??
Thanks

Re: Starter????
I ran the Summit model pictured above for five years street and track in al conditions with no trouble and it easily spun my 11:1 580" pump gas motor. It simply stopped engaging a couple months ago and I bought a Proform unit form Loper's in Phoenix which has worked okay, not quite the cranking RPM of the Summit unit and it needed to be spaced out about 3/32 for the gear to clear the flex plate. Summit says they can have theirs rebuilt and I have sent it off to have that done as I trust it more than the Proform. Do to its lower cranking speed I occasionaly get a kick back/back fire if it doesn't light off cleanly and goes off the start retard.
