9.90 is doable with any BBF head and no NOS, ,ENGINE ONLY, even the D2VE'S.

One of our cars just went 9.59@ 141.45 in April in a SS 2900# 28x10.5 with a 508 with max effort D0VES. Given the weight and MPH I figure 800ish. My car makes around 650-675 N/A, but its not really built to run N/A so the camshaft and a couple other thing hurt it a touch. Its a 460 stock shortblock w/ a flat tappet. Im sure there are guys that have made more, but I figure those 2 examples are acceptable.
what is your build?
barney whats your build? you have cast pistons correct? 650-675 hp is impressive. thanks

I might be wrong but I think I read some where on here or the other site you would save about 80#s going with aluminum over cast iron I maybe wrong like I said.

Re: How much N/A Hp are you making with GOOD dove heads?
80#s is about right. Blake did a swap from the ported streets to a set of iron CJ's that he ported...............I won't elaborate any more on that topic lol.

Re: How much N/A Hp are you making with GOOD dove heads?
For the money i would get a set of SCJ heads from Lem. D0VE heads can work well, but they will never work as well as a aluminun like a SCJ or Street. Dont get me wrong they are a pretty good iron casting, you could also look into a PI head, or Iron CJ, but they are harder to find.
Re: How much N/A Hp are you making with GOOD dove heads?
Don't really want to change pistons.

TFS Streets, Eldelbrocks, or older Motorsport A429's have same valve angles as the factory heads no need to change pistons

Correct.lghting94 wrote:TFS Streets, Eldelbrocks, or older Motorsport A429's have same valve angles as the factory heads no need to change pistons
Re: How much N/A Hp are you making with GOOD dove heads?
Those pistons look like trw or speedpro domes so no they will not work with scj heads without cutting new valve notches

I was making 614hp with Scotties heads. This was many years ago (about eight) and I know he's picked up on far more tricks since then.

Answering your question, 720-750 hp is going to be max with around 13-14 to 1 compression and a 270-ish cam, sportsman type engine. You start adding a dry-sump, more compression, and a couple of more tricks, and you might be able to to get it 775, but you're talking about a high maintaince motor, and 15-20K price tag. Most ain't willing to to that with stock heads.
Hope that helps,
Dave
