still got bubbles in rad after changing heads .uh oh
so i still have the bubbles coming in my rad and i changed heads. doing a compression test tommorrow.what do you guys think.i had it apart this spring and couldnt see and cracks but must be one somewhere right. any places i should be looking before i pull it and swap in a spare. i pulled the valve cover off and torqued the heads a little extra but didnt make any difference.thought i would try it. thanks.
kyle.
this is the engine i got really hot last fall when my engine fans quit on me.

Autozone sells a block sealer that works very well. It is worth a shot for only 10-15 dollars versus pulling the engine apart. I'm not sure who makes it but the I think the can is orange and you have to drain ALL the antifreeze and use just water.

is it for sealing pressure leaks from radiator pressure only. i have used stuff before in the rad but i dont think that stuff would work for pressure coming into the rad would it?? i will check with napa tommorrow.what is autozone in canada. there is a carquest and a auto parts extra just down the road.

We had good luck with Irontite.
It sealed a cracked block for us. The crack was about 1 inch long, straight up from a drain plug hole. Probably just a bandaid fix but it has worked for 3 years now.
Might be worth a try. We got it at Napa.

I just read your post again and I doubt the irontite would fix it .

i think i will put a different engine in for now.no smoke out the tailpipe when i start it and no antifreeze leaks back into any cylinders.maybe a warped deck after getting so hot.just odd that it is doing the same thing it was with the other set of heads. thanks guys.

I don't know what you us this for ( daily driver or race) try driving it around and monitor the temps and check the water level after it cools down. It could just be the water pump caveating. I know my drag motor has done something like for a long time mainly reving the engine up.

it is in my mud truck. i have an electric water pump on it.when i shut the engine off and leave the pump running, the air goes away and the water level drops. it gets up to 200 degrees idling in about 20 minutes but i only have one fan on it, an aluminum four core rad for a 95 f-350 brand new.one fane was enough for it before to go in for a few minutes and it would run about 190. i dont have a thermostat in it right now.took it out last fall.was thinking about putting a 165 or so in it. i thought maybe the water pump was sucking air . but if it was it would bubble all the time.water comes out the top of the rad with the cap off i am assuming from the air in the engine expanding the water out.it is a standard bore engine also with hyper pistons. dove heads with flat tops on a d1 block.
when i took the other heads off. i checked them over for a long time and i couldnt see where leaks were in the head gasket. doesnt mean there wasnt one there. just that i couldnt find one. i try to smell the bubbles coming out of the rad but my sniffer doesnt work the best.
