People don't whine like, "man that powerglide car smoked my ass, or that "dana 60 car really laid it on me".............. lol.
Last time I looked this wasn't "powerglide.com".
Besides............ I'm not blind, just fast......................

Re: got some new heads
Heres a funny joke. My cars mostly stock with 30 year old technology and a Ford trans and if it ran low 10s that means I lifted at 800 feet. Maybe you've heard of NMRA and Hot street that is a NA smallblock class that low 10s would'nt even qualify for. Last I checked there wasnt enough fast LS based motors ( or chevies at all for that matter) to support its own independent heads up racing series. Fact is heads up streetcar drag racing has been, continues to be, and probably always will be dominated by a Ford platform that began life as a 78 Fairmont. How sad is it that 32 years later GM not only has to be bailed out by the Government(Because the build such good stuff) and still cant make a product that can compete with a 32 year old Ford platform. Oh and I almost forgot when a Ford guy uses a Powereglide there aint NOTHING GM left to it period. Aftermarket case, Aftermarket Bell, aftermarket internals, aftermarket valvebody, so whats your point. Your right pretty funny stuff, at least my C4 is still a C4, and isnt so useless that the case cant even be used.johndickjr wrote:and i though you guys knew your race stuff..ha..ha what a joke,
Re: got some new heads
Oh and 1 more thing, last I checked a 2011 mustang can still outrun a Camaro with its big bad LSX even with less power because GM cant build a PERFORMANCE car that weighs less than 4000lbs, so F@#K your fat a#s junk camaros.johndickjr wrote:lol..ford people run a chevy tranny...and then say o, well ford sold it to gm..well guess what the lsx motor was designed by a man that worked for ford and designed the ls1 and ford mod motor, ford went with the mod motor that man went to work at gm and gm liked the ls1..so i can call it a ford...heads fit a ford as does the dizzy..but you people are so blind its funnythe Coug wrote:No offense John but it you want to run a GM then go over to their sight and have fun.... BUT do not try and Cram this S&*t down our throats....... and for your saying we are running Chevy trans..... BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ wrong Ford built that trans and sold it to chevy way back... and besides 90% of these are aftermarket parts anyways..... so go buy you a Cumarooooo and have fun......

All those Chevy powered Mustangs are just in fact die hard Chevy guys that cant deny the fact the fox platform is just that much better than theirs.
How many Chevy's etc use the Ford 9" ?

Now don't get me wrong I am a die hard Ford guy and will not run a Chevy based motor ever but I see some issues with some of these arguments. Also, I agree that this should not have even been here but then again I shouldn't be here either.
NO, maybe some used nascar stuff but then again you spend a pretty penny setting up the motor to work with that stuff.Diggindeeper wrote:I'm not smallblock guy, but isnt there enough aluminum SBF heads that blow those numbers away that could be bought used??? say for $600-$1000
I am willing to bet that most guys on this site are running stock cases if they are running glides and most trans companies just modify the stock VB to convert it to transbrake as they also do to the stock pump.Barney wrote:Oh and I almost forgot when a Ford guy uses a Powereglide there aint NOTHING GM left to it period. Re: got some new heads
I see a few things that are really funny, Seeing that big bad LSX motor is now getting whipped on by the motor in the mustangs which is also quite a few cubes smaller! Tells me how great that motor is. If you want to get real lets see what the motor will do against a 351W based motor. Our old 358W 69 headed iron headed motor would run 6.60-6.70's all day and it lasted for over 300 runs, that is with no sqeeze or forced induction either, and the heads cost hardly anything and weigh a ton! I found a set of used Canfield heads Dart Pro 1 heads for the small block that are about the same price range as you said with the LS heads! We might have had 2500 in the whole motor and won quite a bit of money with that car. Now the 466 motor has run 6.10's and we still have not got the car figured out, also we do run a powerglide transmission, THE ONLY 2 reason's for that was how cheap they are(pretty much can be said about anything Chevy, but of course we also keep 2-3 transmissions as spares) and the weight savings we found with the glide compared to what we had before(like being able to pick the trans up myself while someone else is able to put the bolts into the bell! The LS motor is nothing more than a copy of the Ford, the same thing that Nascrap did because their motors sucked and they had to have something to run with the Fords, funny how the distributor is now in the front! You could give me a Chevy engine tomorrow to put in our car for free and I would rather sit at home than drive the car with a Chevy motor in it!

Re: got some new heads
all that bolt together and go fast b/s gets all the folks looken for an easy way to the "fast lane".build your little LS and then count up how much it cost you and then we'll see you on yellowbullet asken why your shit dont run fast like it should.it cost's money to go fast, however you do it,just dont count on it being cheap.the LS is a good engine, but not a dam bit beter than a 4.6 or 5.4.

Re: got some new heads
Does that mean your going to switch back to Ford since the smaller 5.0 Ford Mustang engine is kicking LS Engine ass in the Camaro. You even admitted a ex Ford guy helped design the LS engine i guess if you can't beat them [GM] just copy their[FORD] designs.I also agree you could find a better SBF then the LS head. This isn't the 60's and 70's any longer there are plenty of great aftermarket SBF heads out there today.

Re: got some new heads
Another thing when you see the Chevy guys putting LS engines in Fox Body Mustangs because they're lighter.Well i know a lighter car will go faster but if the LS engine makes so much power why not put in your Fbody Camaro's and Firebirds.Oh that's right probably because those pieces of shit are to hard to work on with half the engine under the cowl.

Re: got some new heads
If I remember correctly it was Robert Yates that helped Govmnt Motors design the Ls series engine and used the sbf as insperation. I do know the newer chevy small blocks share nothing but a name and bellhousing with there older cousins. Still s##t if you ask me. Sorry you had to jump ship.

Re: got some new heads
I don't think it matters about the design and which is 'better', that can be argued indiscernibly all day.
What matters is that this is a site for Ford BB (and SB) fanatics and we don't like this stuff thrown in our faces....there is already too much of that out there to begin with that we have to deal with.
In other words, "we don't care".

Re: got some new heads
We are bashing a guy for talking lsx but are praising a guy putting ford heads on a GM block (I know it is technically an Olds design but since it uses chevy spec'd internals and bellhousing with a cam that has the gear behind the rear bearing do just call it a bastard motor and go on). but at least the heads aren't essentially copies of the DRCE2, wait they are.
At least it's a big block though. even though the deck height is lower than my small block.
Just a little food for thought.
I thought that would piss people off. Point is who really cares what kind of motor he runs, he posted it where it shouldn't have been posted.

Re: got some new heads
guess ill spill my beans on clevo heads. Im flowing some more air than those lsx heads. got a few secrets locked up in my neat little set of closed chamber 4v cleveland heads. Like how the exhaust ports flow less than my mildly worked over 2v head exhaust ports
