Methanol question
Just some benchracing, but is there a difference between the methanol one would get from a chemical supplier
and what an a+ know it all would use in his racecar (when he's not using m5)
it's just bench racing at this point but alcahol is cheaper than gas...

Re: Methanol question
I discussed this exact thing with the Major Alky supplier here in this area, and he said he drives to the race tracks and pumps his alky from his bulk tank to their tank from the same batch he sells to the industrial business..... He also mentioned his was 98% so take that for what it is.....

Re: Methanol question
Hmm there is a lot of oilfield activity here. Bulk meth is cheap and easily available. I think I need an 871 blower and a pair of toilets

Make sure it is 99.99999% pure, watch the "reclaimed" stuff you might get from the oilfield.

Gimme cheap alky!
I have run the both the high dollar alky (never tried M5) and "rot-gut" industrial grade "black barrel" alky.
My experience tells me that you should know your source, make sure you use a screened funnel and use a good quality top lube. I also reccomend suction and pressure side filters on the car.
I prefer the cheapest methanol that I can find. I can not tell the difference between the types that I have tried.
Just my opinion............

I just thought of another deal.........
If you know a Top Alky dragster or funny car team, they occasionally get a "bad" drum of alky that has taken on too much "water" to pass NHRA fuel check for their class. If it is clear, it runs fine in a bracket or Super class car. You can get that stuff real cheap if you have the connection.
By the way, speaking of cheap alcohol, I just had a few Shlitz beers this weekend that a buddy brought to the track. I had to trade him one of Kerry's imported Pabst Blue Ribbons.
