Re: torque
just hope the primary fuel filter is easier to get off...............whoever designed the one on the 6.4 needs an ass whippin..............yeah I'm pissed
I find it funny all the money and time spent for the power quest but the simple things that are required to be changed often for longivity take 2 chunks of c4 to get off.
Hope someone lost a job over that f-ck up.

You think it ends up saving you money in the long run to f-ck the people who have to deal with this junk on a daily basis, but in the end it really costs you more.
We aint stupid, and if I couldnt make a living doing what I do trust me I would do something else that would.
Cut them times all you want.......................
Cab on/off dont pay 8 hours as it is........

Re: torque
In the long run how is this thing going to stack up against the 7.3 ? Fuel mileage, longevity and do it yourself Maintenance? Looks good on paper and the pics I have seen and read about, but we heard that about the 6.0 and the 6.4!

Re: torque
A friend of mine is coming to the house Monday with his new 2011 F350 SRW 4x4. I'm going to drive it and see how it does. He isn't happy with the mileage at all. He is getting 12.1 pulling a 14ft enclosed trailer and the trans shift timing sucks. He said when you get on it unloaded, it waits too long to shift. He did say the power was very good, as good as the 2010 Duramax he traded in on it. He said he got better mileage with his 2001 7.3 F250 pulling the same trailer.

Re: torque
Man the hoops you gotta jump through just to get a approval on a 6.4 shortblock...........not that you need one.........but you gotta fill out the cost cap tool.........what a damn joke..need to M-time like 3 hours to even mess with these clowns.
Easier to stick a brick on the accel pedal and go to lunch..........come back and request a complete assy..........
Thing is they know they are junk.............thats why Adam is posting the torque numbers and the reason for this thread in the first place...............Ford had to build their own diesel engine......and I'm pretty sure the primary fuel filter is easier to change on the new ones..................

Re: torque
I heard a rumor that the goverment want let Ford put 7.3s in the S-D trucks anymore....anyone else hear that rumor too?
Re: torque
Too bad, the fuel filter was easy to change...............
Replaced many 7.3 engines as well..............mostly due to a wonderful air box design......which worked great with the Ford filter...........not so much with all the rest.
I have a migraine today so bear with me,
The fuel filter rant aint got nothin on the jackass who engineered those quick connect tranny lines in the bottom of the radiator, got a set to do in the morning so get ready to hear me bitch.................

Look on the bright side...... As long as they keep building them like the have been since the 6.0, you'll have plenty of work.richter69 wrote:But how about that torque?!?!?!?!....................

Re: torque
I realize that all companies and engines have problems. I would like to know why ford couldn't build on the 7.3 plat form. John I realize that the 7.3 had some problems and some engine have been replaced but i bet the 6.0 has had more engine failures in one year as opposed to the 7.3 ever did . From my own experience from working in the ford dealer and working on them for the local farmers and nursery 's around my neck of the woods. They all want a 7.3 from 99 to 03. no 6.0 0r 6.4 . I service a 2008 6.4 for a local farmer and his reports are 13mpg unloaded and 8 to 10mpg hauling and the cleaning exhaust is always coming on. He had rather have his 7.3 back ! just my opinions!

Let's throw some more boost at it and run it on alky and see what we get. 40yrs ago, there were a lot of semi tractors out there that would have loved to have that much tq. I think the 250hp Cummins was around 900 and it was a 14L/855ci engine.

Re: torque
Most things are designed to work with what they were designed for....not some bull crap that the aftermarket "designed" after the fact.
A+, I know that you know this.....it's gotta have the cowboy tune-up and stacks behind the cab Seems everyone knows the 6.0/6.4 stuff is suspect and 'they' still turn'em up......if the engine gets hurt it's something like "I never turned it on".
