they are not that bad. you just need to figure out which way to lay on the engine to reach everything. the front 6 are fairly easy and the back passenger is not bad but the driver side bolt that holds the coil pack down is under the fuel rail so it takes a little time to get the little screw out.
Got a set of coils and plugs to put in a 5.4 for my sister

And here I thought I was being a bit greedy when asking $100 for a tranny swap, guess I'm either a sucker or a really nice guy, lol.

Whatever makes both parties happy is a fair price.
The $200 plus the resurface cost I think is a fair price.

Yeah charged him $200. It didnt need the flywheel resurfaced and the clutch wasnt bad. The trans pops out of 4th when you let off the gas. He didnt say that to me until the job was done. Took about 3 hours. So if I find him a 5 speed ill do that swap too.

If you go for a ride with that guy, you'll probably see why the trans pops out of gear. I'll bet a hundred bucks that guy uses the shifter for an g.d. armrest while he's cruising down the road....grinding away at the shift fork and slider all the while.
On the "work for free" deal.....My circle of friends includes a bunch of guys with a wide range of skills and equipment. We trade in favors, as in "You help me, I'll help you." There isn't much that we can't get done for just the cost of materials.....and sometimes, even the materials are free. They guys who never seem able to help...don't get much help.
When it comes to working on race cars, that stuff is my HOBBY. I already have a full time job and I don't want another one. So if you paid me for help with a race car, you'd be turning my hobby into an OBLIGATION. Won't happen.
Now putting a clutch into a guys clapped out daily transportation ain't part of the "hobby" deal. That's where I'm a bit more like Jon.
