93 EFI build Empty 93 EFI build

Hi all,

I've got a 93 F250 daily driver. 75K miles, runs OK. In my parts bin, I've got a Comp X4262 cam and lifters (0.514/0.524, 218°/226°, 111°), and some 2" fenderwell headers/ 3" Flowmaster exhaust.

Will the EFI and computer be OK with a cam like this? Should I ditch the EFI and heads? Sure do like the driveability of it compared to my old carb. I know it's a long shot, but will the added power net any sort of mileage improvement? I'm getting 11 mpg right now (3.55 gears and 33" tires), but I plan to swap in 4.10's to match the front Dana 60. Mileage is a concern, but not enough to sacrifice power and towing.

My last build resulted in disaster when breaking in the old cam (same as above ) in my 429. Comp warranted the cam and lifters, but now I'm a bit timid about sliding a new cam into my good running stock 460.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Pete

Lobe Centers may be a little narrow for the Factory EFI computer.

Headers and Exhaust are a A+ upgrade

Nothing at all wrong with the EFI heads as far as power potential, they are better than the regular small port heads. Just no intakes avaliable that are direct fit.

As Dave stated above, that 111 lobe centers look a bit tight.

Did you notice all of the installation notes ? (cicled in red)

Not sure if there is an image of the red installation notes (I'll have to try to open this post at home). I posted my 429 saga a few months ago, and I think everyone was satisfied on how I put the engine together. THAT engine was considerably more a "weekend" engine than I intend the new one to be. So I would have considered that cam to be a bit much for this engine. But since it's what I have laying around, I thought I'd ask some opinions.

Sounds like the exhaust I have might be good to go, but the cam is too snotty for the EFI/computer to agree with.

Thanks!
Pete
