Boss 600 (598)
Hi Guys,
Just got a set of Kaase Boss 9 heads for a 598 ci sportsman drag motor build
for the Pinto. Will be alky hat injected. Still collecting parts and pieces. Just
learned of the oil drains on the heads. Any other tricks I need to know about
using these heads? Have the rockers proven to be reliable under bracket race
conditions? Or do I need to have spares?
Thanks in advance,
Rich

The rockers are the real deal. They are made by W.W. Engineering, which is the same company making the rockers for Jon's big IHRA Pro Stock Hemis. I don't think you need spares. "IF" you have rocker arm trouble, you better look for some other cause.
Hope this helps,
Charlie

An external oil drain is also what you would need to do when using the original Boss 429 heads on ANY block other than an original Boss block.
You really don't need 'em on a 460 block with the Kaase Boss 9 heads if your valve covers seal well and it's a street application. For competition drag racing, you don't want that oil bath in the heads though.

Thanks guys! Reassuring to hear the rockers are reliable. They are beautiful
pieces and very unique. Not something you'd be able to find easily if you
had to replace one.
I was told the external oil drains are a necessity prior to removing the
valve cover and having a huge mess. I was wondering if I could plumb
the lower one on each side with a short copper or braided line and
shutoff valve to make access easier? Its a tight fit with header tubes.

We had a nipple and a cap on the emc motor. When you want to access the valve train drain the front ones into a cup.
