Head light switch problems
My 93 F-350 460 gas has a problem with the head lights. You can pull on the switch to the first detent and nothing happens, pull it out just a smidge more and the running lights come on. But before you get to the next detent where the head lights come on with the running lights, the running lights go out.
If you push it back in real slow (from the second detent ) you can sometimes get both to come on.
I have replaced the harness connector and have tried 4 different switches , one from the Ford dealer.
Bout to pull my hair out............. Anybody out there have any suggestions

You need to run a relay switch for the accessory lights off of the headlight switch. That is what is burning up the harnesses and the switch.Go to Ford and get a 1U2Z-14S411-AAA harness,6C2Z-11654-A headlight switch.and a relay YL3Z-19G390-AA.that will solve your problem.Did it to mine, and we do here at the dealership to eliminate that problem.Michael

Dave, no it never worked right................
Jon I can put power to every circuit and every light will come on. It's like the detents are in the wrong place.

Sorry missed your post............... I have the new harness and the switch.
I guess I'm slow. But
If the switch is not putting power to the head light circuit or to the running light circuit while in the detent, how will it put power to the relay?

Hey Bud Check the trailer wiring could be back feeding . That will make you think that the switch is bad!

switch
Blake I had a 90 model that a guy had installed so many lights on it looked like a christmas tree he also pulled a horse trailor with equaly as many lights. It had burned up several light switchs. but only with the trailor hooked up.Could it have got hot and messed up the detents, got the plastic hot and warped it? Any way I put a 30 amp cont. duty relay and triggered it from the under the dash lights, ash try light I think I ran the trailor and what I left of the lights on the truck. That cured my switch problem.Might help and it was a easy cheap fix.
