67 f100 longbed, its 2wd and I am going to lower it about 4 inches so it has a nice stance. Should be killer! Metallic green and gloss black.Thunderstruck wrote:what vehicle are you stuffing that baby in ?

Thank you, its got a dana 44 in it and I will run widened stock rims and they will be painted green. I will have a good offset so I can stuff some wide tired in there and tub it out. I know I can probably at least fit 12" in there, we'll see when the bed is on it.Thunderstruck wrote:Narrowed 9inch and all ?? Thats going to be one sweet ride ! Best of luck with it !

Sunday I painted my oil pan, distributor cap, ignition coil, overflow tank, steering column, and other steering column parts green. Man this green looks bad azz! I need to take some pictures, I love this color!

Cool project
Nice looking project. I have a qustion though, are the main caps installed in the correct order with all the arrows pointing in the right direction? It is a little difficult to tell from the picture.

Just wanted to double check because I know someone that tried installing a couple caps facing the wrong way and from your picture it looked like 2 and 3 could possibly be in the wrong order. Be sure to post a video when its running

Re: Let the 466 mayhem begin...
Yeah, thanks for the concern, you never know. Let me tell you, the saddle bores are all within 2 thousandths of each other. I was helping my machinist get it that close, so I know its not a quick hone job. I will post a bunch of video's, maybe not for a while since I'll be too busy driving it!501ranger wrote:Just wanted to double check because I know someone that tried installing a couple caps facing the wrong way and from your picture it looked like 2 and 3 could possibly be in the wrong order. In that pic ,the #2 and #3 are in the wrong places. Did you line hone it with the caps switched like that? Did you check your clearances while you were assembling it? Better hope so,looks like trouble brewing ???

Re: Let the 466 mayhem begin...
I went outside and checked. front <1 <2 <3 <4 (last one) back I now see what your talking about, I don't know why they were in like that, the #3 main has only ONE place it should go. On the #3 saddle, don't forget that it is a main support and there is a special bearing for it. But when I assembled it they were in order, I must have just set them down without bearings for the picture???? no clue56Tbird wrote:In that pic ,the #2 and #3 are in the wrong places. Heads are assembled bleotch!!! Had fun at the machine shop today, and I learned some new things. Now whats holding me back is the fact that I have to degree the cam and have no supplies to, I need to get a kit. Or maybe...no! Be patient Justin.

They are wrong in the picture. Also, I sure hope that it was line honed with the studs in. Seen guys think they can just switch to studs from the bolts. It don't work. Different type of clamping force and distorts the cap differently.

Machined with the same studs, washers and nuts all machined while they were facing a certain way and all were installed facing that same way.

Went to put my cam in today Wouldn't go in courtesy of UPS. This cam was a Christmas present and bought 12/21/08 Lunati has a 90 day warranty but since I haven't done anything with it up until now Summit is willing to work with me and exchange it. Just a little bit fresher than it would have been!

Re: Let the 466 mayhem begin...
I was told by my machinist that sometimes the cam will be warped by the time you get it, he said that it can happen from the way UPS will stack the boxes and all real fast. I am building it so he had put the cam bearings in it when I took the blcok home. That way it would be ready to go.Mark Miller wrote:Are you saying the cam was bent or something,i always take my cam to the machine shop when they install the cam bearings.

I'd double check the cam bearings. Never seen a new cam not fit. JMO

Re: Let the 466 mayhem begin...
Here's the thing, if I went to put it in correctly (rear lobe goes in first front lobe goes in last) it wouldn't go in but I could get it in just a little. If I went to put it in backwards (front lobe goes in first and rear lobe goes in last) it would slip right in just like the other cams I have installed on a ford, amc, and mopar. All slip in the same to me, but the one doesn't like to go in the correct way.TravisRice wrote:I'd double check the cam bearings. Never seen a new cam not fit. JMO

I have dealt with cams that are just made crappy, order the same cam again and exchange it and the dsign (like the teeth on the gear) are thinner or thicker. Its a manufacturing flaw type thing.

Re: Let the 466 mayhem begin...
heads are on, now all i am waiting for is the cam. They are still trying to find it, I'm pissed. If it weren't for that I would have a bunch more done on it. So I have a week off and I can't get a dang thing done on it now.
