The cam card does'nt take in consideration if its a iron/alum head. W/my alum. heads I set them .006 tighter cold than what the spec. card says..004 if it's a iron headed deal. Thats just me Rolling Eyes

Well I have a custom ground cam and there are no settings on the card. My engine buider gave me the setting to run them on. Roller motor with a iron D0ve head, .747/737 lift shifted at 5800-6200. I was just wondering what everybody else did, no big deal

.018 to .026 is a pretty common range. Tighter is better than looser for valvetrain life.

One needs to take into consideration, that aluminum and iron expand differently. I was taught that if you have iron heads, the gap will tighten as everything get warmer vs. loosening when it gets warmer for aluminum. I run my SCJ's @ .012 cold, and they're right at .016 hot. I did a couple sets of irons that I set @ .020-.022 cold, and they closed up to .016-.018 when hot. I run mine where they are, because it likes it there. It obviously runs pretty fair there. Laughing

Just my experience.

the iron heads will tighten up with heat.some set as loose as .030 that i'v ran.much as i hate to do it the best way is start at .030,heat it up and check it.i set my A460's at .020 and end up at .026 hot. Very Happy
