Cylinders are a little longer than the earlier (C8, C9, Dove, D1, etc.) blocks. Strength wise, no difference, but the longer cylinders are nice for a stroker build.

Is that the only difference? Deck height and everything else is the same?

Re: D9 Block .30 over
Would there be any other machining that would need to be done to the block for a stroker?

No, this isn't a BBC block it's a Ford 460 block. 4.500" stroke will work fine without any grinding.

I don't believe that is the case with the aftermarket cranks. At least not in my experience.

I was researching the D9s on here and it says that pretty much everybody is making cranks that are compatible with these blocks nowadays

Good deal then. Just wanted to make you aware of a possible issue with cranks in a D9 block.

Re: D9 Block .30 over
Internally balanced rotating assembly's can be fitted to D9 blocks. A lot of grind and fit, but worth the effort.

The OEM passenger car internal balance crankshafts are not a drop-in deal with the D9TE block.new2460 wrote:as long as you use an internally balanced crank the block doesnt know. correct?
