Re: 572 CID - Stock Kaase P51 heads
Ok a little update for this thread:
Best pass on motor only @ 3420 lbs was a 9.417 @ 143 mph. The 1/8th mile time was 6.017 @ 116.070 mph. The P51 heads, port wise, are still all stock.
Since then I have lightened the car from 3420lbs to 3300lbs. I am also adding a single stage fogger set up---which I will detail the set up here. I am sure on motor only this car has 5.9Xs in the 1/8th and 9.30s in the 1/4---but the tight converter and a cam more suited for N20, along with the cars heavy weight is holding back the all motor performance. Eventually I hope to get the car down to 3200 lbs with driver.
But--the plan was to run N20 all along, so in the end I am not too worried about it.
First, these are pictures of my intake with the plumbing done. I plan on squeezing a 200 shot.
I am going with a dual bottle setup located where the passenger seat used to be:
The nitrous system will have its own regulator, but it will t off of the main fuel line since I have an aeromotive A2000 fuel pump. Plugs will be NGK -10s and since the motor runs best on 30 degrees total on motor, I think I will start off at 20 degrees just to be safe. I am going to use a progressive controller with a fuel pressure safety switch.
Lightening the car:
1) factory bumper replacements front/rear with some small chrome moly tubing
2) finally took out the window tracks, electric motors, crash bars, etc in each door---but still retained the factory interior pieces so the door still look stock.
3) carbon fiber rear deck lid
4) carbon fiber hood---4 inch cowl extended to the windshield.
5) took off the heavy dynomax bullet mufflers and put on some race Vibrant mufflers.
I decided NOT to replace the factory glass with LEXAN as that would be about a 55lb difference but easily over $1K. Plus I like the look of the factory glass.

Re: 572 CID - Stock Kaase P51 heads
Just to put a finishing bow on this thread--honestly I had thought I already did this.....
Back in 2012 I sent the heads to Charlie, we changed the intake valves to Titanium, some port work, and my best on motor pass dropped to a 9.16 @ 149 mph. Then I ran a 150 shot and a 200 shot and ended up with a best 8.57 @ 158.78 mph at 3420lbs. The change in ET wasn't as dramatic as I changed from running Q16 to a 120 octane fuel for nitrous, which is about 40 hp difference. Then you have the added weight of the two bottles and an extra 16V battery (about 100 lbs). So the 200 shot really was a 160 shot with 100lbs added to the weight of the car.
Here is a video which shows this combos best passes from 2013/2014.

Figured I'd drag this one back to the top since I'm embarking on the same build...
