Motor has No spark?
Well, I've tried a few things to see what the problem is. I first thought it might be the pick-up. Changed that, nothing. Then I tried another coil, still nothing. SO then I tried to test the Box, used a jump wire and I'm getting spark off the Coil wire to the Distributor. What else could it be?? MSD instructions stated if you get spark, then the coil is bad and the box is good. But I tried another coil in which I knew worked, so I'm puzzled at this point. Any help here??

I had spark problems before with a MSD setup, it still had some spark but misfired and ran like crap. I tried everything from a dizzy swap, coil and MSD box swap but it turned out to be my tach was junk, so you might want to look into stuff you have hooked up to your MSD like N2o timers, timing box's ect. Good luck.

Make sure your crimps are good too, sounds dumb but I've had problems with my msd box and the company said part of the problem were the crimps. Crimps appeared fine though, just check it over and make sure its all good. Could just be something basic that you wouldn't even think about, usually is for me anyway.

Get another plug that you know is good and attach one of your plug wires to it and grd.to engine.Whirl it over and see if it fires the plug.

I also tried this too. Still no luck. I just dont want to spend $1000 on new things I didn't even need...lol. The box appears to NOT be the problem though....any other ideas guys?? I have a potential race on the 1st and don't wanna be holding the bag still..

I am guessing you have checked to see the distributor is turning ? No reluctor paddles broke ?

Do you have anything hooked to the MSD box other then the coil, dizzy and tach? If so try unhooking it all and just run the basic box setup without the tach or rev limiter chip pluged in. Start with the basics and then add on one piece at a time untill you find whats not working.

Make sure you have 12v going into the MSD and a good ground.

Yeah, 12v straight to the battery, and ground straight to the battery.

Yes that's what I am referring to. I would go with what Filucky said , have any oil pressure 02 or egt safety shut off's , etc. Only other thing it could be is a loose connection to the ignition switch / box or coil.

Re: Motor has No spark?
You say there is spark from coil wire AT dist but no spark at plugs? Rotor is bad. If I am understanding what you described symptoms.
Re: Motor has No spark?
theres spark from the coil wire, but none from dist wire when connected...I have replaced the cap, button, pick-up (all new only 2 months old)

Did the problem start right after you put something on it? I have yet to deal with a bad rotor but, if spark's going in but not coming out...Got to be something right there in the distributor.

Yes I did change the set-up. I went and locked the timing out and put it back on the car and then the problems started then.

Re: Motor has No spark?
I tried testing the box again with the jump wire, and the red-light on the Digital 6 Box went out but the ignition switch was still on and the ignition light was still on. No blown fuses of any kind. Also, I unplugged the Tach wire that went into the box too. Not sure if this has anything to do with it. The light on the box was on when I turned the ignition on. You guys think it would either be the Box or the coil?? Gonna figure this out but def puzzled at this point. Never had any kind of problem like this before till I took the Dizzy out and tried locking the timing out.

Correct. When everything is plugged back in and 1 plug wire is taken out of a cylinder....No spark. Would this mean the coil is bad??

I only get spark from coil wire when I test the box. Using the jump wire

Could the gap be way off between the reluctors and the pickup?richter69 wrote:sounds like the pick up in the dizzy got messed up somehow.........this a msd unit where you have to pull the shaft out to lock it in?

Exactly. I tried my other coil again just to try again and motor back fired. Tried again and still no spark.

Re: Motor has No spark?
Pull the cap off and check the air gap between the pick up and reluctor. Would only take a second and would be easy to just say "that ain't it."1Bad91 wrote:richter69 wrote:sounds like the pick up in the dizzy got messed up somehow.........this a msd unit where you have to pull the shaft out to lock it in?
