New Eco-boost F-150 pulling 2 race cars ...total weight of 11,300 lbs....video
I saw this video of the Eco-Boost F-150 and immediately starting wondering about this combo for towing.
2011 F-150 Crew Cab pulling 2 nascar style cars on an aluminum trailer (total 11,300 lbs for 24 hours )
Seems impressive enough.

The video claims 24 hours at a high rate of speed.
85 mph @ 4800 rpm ?
Does anyone know what the "M" stands for on the gear selector?

Manual.
My guess is all the 150 improvements are to salvage customers from the 6.0/6.4 superduty fail and 6.7 sticker shock.

I would like to see them do stop & go for 24hrs. That would impress me more than sustained speed on a relatively flat track.
Neat truck though.
Does it have the 7 lug wheels?!?!?!

Personally I like the 6.2 chevy 400 plus hp...Been a ford guy all my life but thay sure arent easy to modify anymore. I know its the wave of the future to keep the general public from doing anything to there cars. I guess I just like the pushrod motors

I assume they are counting the weight of the truck in the total?
Stick a 12,000 enclosed deal behind it like most racers have and tell me how it does................and handles.......and stops..........lol.

Jon,
That's what i was thinking also figure about 6,800 lbs for the cars.I don't think the Aluminum open trailer weighs 4,500 lbs..
Later Mark.

didnt watch the vids, but like someone else said....how about braking? more curious about that....also how many really have a 2 place alum open trailer with just 2 cars on it? more like a 24 - whatever length enclosed with 1 car, wheeler or cart....shitload of tools, generator, fuel, spare trans and or engine and the list goes on......lets see how it performs then....not hatin on the truck, because I do like it, but lets keep it somewhat real

uh....the voice over in the video says: "11,300 pounds attached to the back of the F-150"..... listen to the video starting at the 22 second mark.
That is why I found the info impressive...however, as bigblockranger posted above that test was at a steady rate of speed on a fairly flat track. Put that combo pulling up a grade and try to hold it back going down a grade and then see how long it holds up.
I know the reg. cab F-150 longbed with the 5.0 Coyote is rated around 9,000 lbs and starts in the $ 25,000 range.
I venture to say the Eco-boost will start in the 32K range.

Re: New Eco-boost F-150 pulling 2 race cars ...total weight of 11,300 lbs....video
In that case those cars must be full of lead shot.............just seems heavy for an aluminum trailer and 2 nascars......not that I have an idea what one weighs as I dont watch it either. I'm sure they also provided a lot of drag with their aerodynamics.
Again I'm not dogging the truck it just seems they could have used a better "test"......like 2 chevy trucks on a steel trailer lol............but then again I doubt it would have passed the "test".
Reminds me of a new F150 we had in the shop some years back, had 200 miles on it and the tranny was smoked............upon initial inspection it had a 5th wheel hitch in the bed. The SM drove home one day and went by the customers house and he had a small rv and a small boat hooked together that he was pulling with this new truck. Lets just say he was told to take it back to the selling dealer as we were not going to get in the middle of it.............salesmen will tell you anything to sell a truck............

think i seen it where they said each nascar junk weight in at 3500 range...so x2 = 7000 + 2000 trailer= still only 9k, not sure where the other 2k is, but that truck weights more then 2k...that figure is plus or minus a tad..im sure they added some weigh in the car...the truck alone is probably 6500

Typical sales crap. Once the Nascrap cars and trailer is moving then all you are doing is maintaining the speed. It's getting there that counts. I wonder if they had a a couple semi's pass it every other lap? LOL.

Wow , such negativity for what looks like is turning out to be a great engine. Y'all do realize that it's only a V6-213 cubic inches, 365hp & 420 ft-lb torque. There are not a lot of V8's out there that can make that claim.
Re: New Eco-boost F-150 pulling 2 race cars ...total weight of 11,300 lbs....video
If they want to do a real test there is a handfull of oilfield outfits down here they should let have trucks for say 1 month, if they are still running at the end of the month you have a winner...................

Re: New Eco-boost F-150 pulling 2 race cars ...total weight of 11,300 lbs....video
they could try a fleet of them at the mine i'm at. They buy GM tie rod ends, wheel bearings, a arms, and headlights by the crate. 2 fords, an 03 f150, and a 05 or 06 superduty gasser that NEVER EVER break down, yet they insist on continuing to run a bunch of chevy's.... But they can afford to waste money i guess. One of the chevs piled up a transfercase halfway up the pit ramp a month ago, 777 CAT wiped out on the ice trying to go around it, damn near went over the bank.

I found another Ford video...this one is alot harder to believe. Truck must have 12 leaves in the spring pack in the back....lol
1985 F-series 4wd carrying a shell of a Chebbie P/up first.
Then carrying another Chevy shell and pulling a shell of a Dodge p/up.

Then again in 1987 ?

I don't think it is negative just realistic. It is a sales gimmick to trick most people that don't know squat about cars.Doug Rahn wrote:Wow , such negativity for what looks like is turning out to be a great engine. After the crap Ford has been putting out since 2003 there is no F'n way I would by a new one. That 6.7 is going to have to prove it's reliability thats for sure.johndickjr wrote:all you haters need to piss off and go buy a dodge or Chevy
