Air compressor max pressure
How come some air compressors are rated at 175 psi? Do some tools/equipment work at this higher pressure?

I think it's so they can keep pressure built up for tools that use alot of air...sandblasters,air files,da's and such..That's why you need to run a regulator on your tools..

X2 on what Dan said plus most air tools are designed to use only 90 psi max that is why you need a regulator on it.But most people run the air tool at what ever there air compressor will give them on psi.I am one of the ones that turns my reguatoe wide open to unless painting or sand blasting.Mine is only set ay 135psi it is a 60 gallon tank.
