Amzoil compressor oil in transmission?
What do you guys think or have any of you tried using the amzoil a/c compressor oil for trans fluid. If so How did it do?

Never did that, but we did use aviation oil in our manual trans back in the day. This was before synthetics came to the forefront. Worked good, less drag. Never heard of the compressor oil deal. I'd guess it's similar viscosity to atf. Is there a big price difference between it and Amzoil atf?

I know of a top trans and converter company that swears by it, all the heavy hitter cars Mike Duffy works on use it too.
Good stuff, only downside is the cost.

Its also damn near impossible to burn the stuff up as well, also has no friction modifiers.

It will be 75% race and 25% Street. I have allready purchased the oil. I am going to try it if you guys think it will be ok to run. what about running it with the typeF fluid That i can't get out of the converter.?

That sucks! I just got my engine back together and in the car last night . I don't know how its going to run. I lowered the compression ratio and advanced the cam 2 degrees. Not on purpose!

Re: Amzoil compressor oil in transmission?
lower bearing seized up, I cant find one local or I would fix it myself.
I'll let them take care of it and sell the pump this winter, get me a belt pump and be done with it.

Re: Amzoil compressor oil in transmission?
it has a 4.86 in it now and wont quite get threw the 1/4, we have been racing 1/8 mile all year. Have a 1/4 mile race coming up and want some new numbers.............
Putting the 4.33 back in, its what i have had in the car for 10 years until this winter when i put the 86 in.
We'll see if it hurts the 60' numbers or not................

Bearing must be some odd-ball size or somthin.
Myself, I go through Mcmaster-Carr in Chicago since our good ole local Detroit Ball bearing outlet closed up.
Time to go out in the garage and make some Glide tools.
See ya.

A tranny is like a garbage disposal.................it will run on about anything.
I think we put too much into what type this or that, I still have the Schaeffer's all-trans I put in the glide over the winter, I rekon it will be in there for another year or so...or until i decide to upgrade the case or something.

Re: Amzoil compressor oil in transmission?
I'm not looking at it from a durability standpoint....
I'm thinking about the repeatability side of things...
I'll be trying one or the other for sure in 2010.
