Valve stem seals
I am ready to assembly my Dove-c heads. I have 11/32 valve stems, need to find seals to fit inside (Crower) spring, has .715 I.D. with .550 boss. None of my N.O.S. will fit all three dimensions. Catalog search on-line failed so far to find dimensions listed. Anyone got an idea what I have to get?

Re: Valve stem seals
Sounds like your cylinder head shop forgot a step. Most shops machine the top of the guide down to .530", or .500", or .485". In your case I'd suggest machining the top of the guide dopwn to .530" with the appropriate Comp Cam or Crane cutter, and then you have a whole multitude of seals from which to choose.
Hope this helps,
Charlie

.550" ... ? That's a weird size.
A guide O.D. of .562" is normal and two steel jacketed positive seals, which have an i.d. of .548, from Silver Seal are #55846 and #55847. The difference between them is the useful temperature range.

Randy, my bad , I went back to the shop and the top of the guide is .562". Will those part#s for silver seals fit inside the .715 i.d. on my springs, and if so which # is for which heat range? As far as heat range, are we talking exhaust vs. intake , or different engine setup's? I'll be running 118 octane gas wth approx 15 to 1 comp ratio.
And once again, thanks for the help.

Those are Silver Seal replacements for the steel jacketed 302 and 2.3L 4 cylinder Ford seals from years ago; I don't remember exactly which is which.
EDIT: Oh yea, those seal O.D.'s are listed as .700".
Re: Valve stem seals
So which one would ya want, the 302, or 2.3L?
Thanks.

They are the SAME seals ... just twice as many for the V8.

Re: seals
Just a note: Thanks to Randy's help, I got with Silver Seals online and then over the phone. Nice young man name of Ryan talked with me about what use, fuel type, etc, and sold me a set of seals that fit and are compatible with my destructive lifestyle. Many thanks again for the info.
