Re: Jim's Little 460 AND 2000 RANGER
Just alittle update got my B&M Pro Ratchet Shifter in today got a drive shaft today out of a 95 linc. close to right length.Might have to adjust the rearend back about 1/2" to 3/4" but I have room to do that if needed.Going next friday to get the complete rear disc brakes off of it for $100 I might have to make the backing plate to make them fit.I can fab up one if needed so no big deal I will make list as what I have to do to put them if any body want to put disc on there's.The Merc.Grand Marcqee carrys the same disc set up to.After getting all this on all I will have left is rearshock/springs,front wheels, tires, and lexan windows the list is getting short. But work has slowed to 32hrs aweek so this small list will take a while to get, unless I can find some good paying side work or sale some of my toys that I don't care to do.Saling a pile of scrap iron to get the rear brake next Friday.Post some pics when I get the shifter drive shaft in might do a burn out on the concret slab out front when I get it all in.

Re: Jim's Little 460 AND 2000 RANGER
The shifter is in but the drive shaft is going to be a pain putting in and taking it out as I will have to drop the rearend down to get enough room to feed it through the 2 drive shaft looms.I should have move the 1st one up about 6" or made it removable but I welded both in. Thought I would have enough room to get it in but not I wanted it back far enough if I busted a u-joint the drive shaft wouldn't hit the track. It want be that hard to put in but just have to take jack it up real high put it on the jack stands unhook the shocks and diag.bar and let the reaend drop down to get the drive shaft over the rearend as they are not enough room to go under it.But that is part of building and learning at the same time.

The drivers door with everything on it from the factory weighed 75lb with it gutted out it weighs 35lb. I ran it down the road from the cumminty house spinning aliitle in 1st had to padel it alittle hit 2nd it gripped and man this time I got to feel the real power this milded built 460 has ran it about half way through 2nd before i had to get out of it to get turned in to the house.Boy it felt good and it went streight didn't try to fish tail this time.Just alittle ruff with no shocks. But they are next on the list.

I got my shocks today and put them on and got the lexan on the pssager side done.Getting real close to getting it to the track.
I know the truck needs another bath it is dusty but as soon as I get all the windows in it will get a bath and buffing.Don't want to feel the insides full of water.

All the lexan windows are in except the windshield I will replace the factory windshield over the winter.Ordered the 2 wheels for the front from jegs today Rick aka 557 mazda gave me the 2 front tires he took off his when he put the front runner on his, they will work for mine until I can buy some for the front.Al aka 72mav gave me 2 used slicks for the rear for some testing and tuning on the chassis.Did some trading for the rear disc setup go tomorrow afternoon and take the rear brake setup off and start putting all of it on this week end.I will post what all it take to put the rear Linc disc brake off a 8.8 on a big bearing 9".I know I will have to fab up the bracket to hold the cal. on with.
Oh ya it will get a bath this weekend to

Re: Jim's Little 460 AND 2000 RANGER
The rear brakes are on got to go by next week and pick up a brake line to hook up to the master cyclinder need 3 more foot of line to finish them up.Sorry no pics of the set up yet. They are off of a 95 Linc. Cont. What I like about them they do not have the parking brake made in the cal. they use brake shoes inside the rotor. So changing rear pads will be alot easier and quicker..I will get some pics up on the rear brakes when get the paint to repaint the brackets from grinding and cutting. The set up I got was all new stuff but used lightly the rotors, reman cals.,and pads was just put on before the car was recked the papers from where the brake job was still in the car.So for a $100 for everything I think I did get a great deal as I just bought reman cals, rubber lines and pads for my 86f150 and pay more than that.Started cleaning it up but it started raining witch it hadn't rained here in quite awhile so I am not complaining.I did manage to get the outside washed the inside needs a good cleaning as it has gotten dusty sitting with no windows.

Dang that looks really nice! It has a nice stance to it, looks badazz man! The tires fit in the back really well by the looks of it, they don't look tiny anymore.

Sure looks good Jim,
Your not messing around either, considering you received them yesterday. Yes, the stance looks good too. Now hopefully with all that BBF torque it will level out just skimming the front tires
Regards.

Well guys this build is almost finished the only thing that might change over the winter is a lexan windshield, new MT 29.5x11.5x15 Ws.It did make a trip to the track this year and maybe another one in 2 weeks. Then it will be sitting until next year as it is tax time here land tax,trucks/van tags $$$$$$ then its holidays.

Re: Jim's Little 460 AND 2000 RANGER
Well made a couple tnt passes all in all a good day I now it run in the 7s but not the low 7s. On my 2nd pass my oil filter line came off blew 2 qts of oil out on the track right after the 1/4 mark in the shout down and oiled the truck down good too.I am glade I had already had let off when it came off it was only turning about 3500 rpms when it poped off. I fixed the line filled it back up don't look like it hurt anything oil pressure is the same and no knocks or pings.I might pull it over the winter and look the bottom end over just to be on the safe side.

I hear you Jimmy with out a gear change I don't think I can cut much more off the time maybe some 7.5s when I get the brakes holding on the line better for I can get up on the convertor more but then I believe I will hit the rev limit before 1/8. I am bumping it at the 1/8 now so I think I will be in it before the 1/8 after I get the 60' time down. When I buy new Slicks I am going to a 31x10.5w it might get me enough gear without hitting the limit. If they do I will run it like it is next year to get some seat time then next winter work on putting it down in the 6s.

Al it did get hairy and scary for a sec when I touched the brakes it steped out got back off brakes quick then let it rolled to a stop. Track officals might not like me letting it roll to a stop but aleast I didn't hit the wall .The Good Lord was riding with me it was just a wonder it didn't catch fire from the oil sprayed all over header and smoked up the truck good.I will change the clamps for sure and make sure to keep a good eye on them for sure I think I ran over something at the end of the track and it cought the line the line got a spot on it and might have pulled it off.
