Bushed steel rods
Hi everyone,
Is there enough meat to bronze bush a truck rod? Id like to run a floating pin.
Whats the expense?/etc.
Thanks.

Al: I saw in the article in PHR in 2007 where Jon Kaase built that 700 hp BBF with truck rods that were bushed for floaters.

Re: Bushed steel rods
IF you sift thru a bunch of cores and find 10 or 12 that A) will pass MAG inspection and B) have enough meat around the pin bore, it can and has been done. IMHO, it's not a good idea because the shank of the rod (where they usually break) is still the same AND, to do the job right, you'll have more money in the rods than a new set of aftermarket ones cost.

Thanks for the replys Gentlemen.
Talked to a old hand at this and he advised against it.
And like Chuck said, not worth the money either. Press fit should be fine for this combo,472 bracket DOVE motor.
Regards.
