Lem, the tuning guru's didn't want to do timing yet. The fuel curve is still fat up top and all over really. Today we are going to baseline the engine and then give it two degrees. After we get the timing maxed out, we'll get back the fuel. Then we have lash, cam, and vacuum. When we get it maxed, we will put the C16 in and change the a/f ratio to 12.8 or so and start tuning up the gas.

Re: 641" C-head, 1170 hp
Tonight was aggravating. Had a fuel line mess up, O2 sensor quit working, an oil leak, another MFI bug, but we found out why we had no vacuum. We had a severe leak at 4 bolt holes we couldn't use on the holmes manifold. We plugged them and the vacuum came around, We had 7" at idle, but only 1.7" at WOT. Power was up to 1160 with no changes other than the little bit of vacuum. we tried 32* and 34* and it lost down to 1151. Tomorrow we are starting at 30 again and trying 28. Then we are going to do more leaning and throw on the vacuum pump. They want the engine off the dyno tomorrow, so I don't know if gas is going to be tried. We can test it at the track, though.

Re: 641" C-head, 1170 hp
Gas deal couldn't be tuned properly in the three pulls we had time for, so we cannot take anything from that other than:
Alky made 17.8" of crankcase vacuum; Gas made 21" vacuum. Little more stuff getting by the rings.
It looks like the alky was taking up some air flow based off where the air correction table numbers were headed in the MFI box. That would agree with
the down nozzle deal.
Overall very happy with the engine. It ran well, made good power and didn't go home in a box full of pieces.
