Safety requirements -- apparel -- 9.99 to 8.50
Ok, so I am trying to look this up on a variety of websites, I am hoping someone has a 2010 NHRA rulebook and can look it up. Car is N/A, no nitrous or power adders. Stock firewall.
Jacket= 3.2A/5
Pants= 3.2A/5
Shoes and Gloves= what rating is needed?
Head sock? Neck brace?
Also the rating on my helmet, full face, with visor, is M2005. Does this qualify?
Everything else about the car itself I have (cert cage, sfi flexplate, bellhousing, trans case, locking trans dipstick, sfi balancer, etc, etc,)---just wondering about the apparel requirements.

Re: Safety requirements -- apparel -- 9.99 to 8.50
Neck collar meeting SFI Spec 3.3 mandatory in all cars running 9.99 or quicker or cars exceeding 135 mph. A head and neck restraint device/system may be used in lieu of a neck collar.
An SFI-approved head and neck restaint device/system is mandatory for any vehicle running 200 mph or faster.
If SFI Spec 3.3 neck collar is required and driver opts to use head and neck restraint device/system instead or head and neck restraint/device system is mandatory, then SFI Spec 3.3 head sock or SFI Spec 3.3 skirted helmet mandatory.
This one is very important. Make sure when you purchase a head sock or helmet skirt it is SFI 3.3 approved. These items are very inexpensive and the helmet skirts can be attached to any exisiting helmet.
For all 9.99 and quicker closed-bodied cars, a full-face Snell M2000, M2005, K2005, SA2000, SA2005, SFI 31.2A, or 41.2A helmet mandatory; shield premitted.
3.3/1 gloves and no special shoes

Thanks for the response. So for me runing 9.20s on the motor, stock firewall, I just need the standard gloves, no special shoes, and a neck collar it seems? (In addition to the 3.2A/5 jacket and pants).
I meant to put this in the General Discussion forum.

Do yourself a favor and go ahead and get the shoes, they aren't that expensive.

Stroud has them really cheap. As soon as you get them rip the soles off and then glue them back on. They will fall off anyway so you might as well fix it before it falls off at the track.
I was being a little sarcastic. But the soles have fell off every pair we have bought from them and they just keep telling us, "That's why they are cheap." If someone else made a 14 that is wide I would by it instead.

Yes, that is the bare minimum. You might want to ask your wife if she wants you in the bare minimum though.

Ok, last question--to get my competition license, I need a physical---is there a specific form or something I bring to my doctor to fill out? Or do I just request a physical?

It's apparent via your previous posts that cash is not an issue for you (at least in my eyes)... Buy a $10 rule book and educate yourself.

I have one but don't have nearly the goodies you have on your ride

go to NHRA.com, they have the forms there you cant print off, just take it to a doc and have them fill it out. This reminds me I need to go take mine and renew my license, so far so good........its good to know the tech guys lol, one day they will ask for it though.
after the physical take the license form to the track and make the runs as they have on the sheet, then get it signed off by the folkes and then just mail it all in with your $$$ to NHRA. Big pain in the ass lol.

If you're gonna get the shoes, get the socks as well so you don't burn off your pinky toe
I renewed my NHRA License last year and it's gettin' too expensive. I'll probably get my IHRA license when the NHRA deal expires...

Yeah, but it would take two weekends, and the 250.00 is gone, that is why I let my I.H.R.A. license run out, N.H.R.A. won't reconise them, so I will either keep getting the N.H.R.A., or de-tune, I just got mine last week, got $690.00 invested in the darn things.

x2 had rci shoes now for 4 + years now and they never came apart anywhere. I was only running mid to hi 10's but after reading about a 13 second mustang wiping it and the tennis shoes melting on his feet before he got out made me spend the 60-70 bucks on them.richter69 wrote:I got a pair of RCI shoes that are old as hell, sole never came off, but they be worn smooth..............I guess you could say they aint DOT legal anymore.............
