The good and bad from last nights ,TNT
Went to my home track last night for test and tune and it went ok. Well part of it did. First pass car hooked and was on a nice run till the 1000' mark. Had a 1.36 60', 6.21 1/8 @110+ mph and then trouble. Hood peeled back like a can of sardines blocking the scoop. Felt like I pulled a chute. Still ran a 9.84 @at 132. Only hurt the hood, scoop and airpan worked great. Ran without the hood and spun badly and still went a 9.87 and next pass ran a 9.77 spinning off the line but not as bad. 1.40 60' almost 138 on the big end with a 15-25mph head wind. Flags were straight out. Now back to work getting a new hood on for Atco.[img][/img]

OUCH!! Sorry about your hood man. Glad the car ran good though. I looked at the pic 1st, and when I started reading, I was expecting a worse story. Glad it was just the hood. Hope you get it fixed soon.

yeah them flimsey hoods and dzus fasteners.............needs a row across the front for sure.
no big, I think we have all lost a hood at one time or another...............you only do it once.
Nice runs, what the combo?

The combo is pretty mild. 460 with Eagle H-beams, TRW flattops, home ported A-429 heads, 615, 589, 256,266, flattappet Comp. cam. Uncle Charlie prepped G-429 intake, with a 1000HP Prosystems carb. Rollerized C-4, 4000 stall, with 3:89's on a 28 inch tire. Car weights 3080 with me in it. A buddy brought me another hood tonight so this one will get stripped and lots and lots of fasteners!

This engine is going to be the backup. Have a Dove -A that I'm going to make into a 545 just don't know what heads I want yet. P-51 or SCJ. Or maybe a A head.

Get a glass hood the skins are too thin they are light tho and your times are killer and like you said imagine dropping your motor/trans in my mustang with it being 500lbs lighter it would be a heck of a test to see what the weight would do. We already use the same gear and tire well 390's in mine.
