Regrinding Roller Cam
Well I managed to break a roller lifter the other weekend and it caused some wear on the nose of the cam. I was wondering how much wear can a cam have and still be able to get it reground? Also, about how much does it usually costs to get a cam reground? Is it worth the trouble to get one reground?
Thanks guys, David

Re: Regrinding Roller Cam
I think all the major companies offer a regrinding service. If you have a Comp Cam, then send it back to Comp Cam, don't change brands. Don't try to change the LSA or anything. The Comp Cam fee is like $125/$135 + shipping I think.
Hope this helps,
Charlie

The only problem I have there Charlie, is that it's a Reed cam and they are no longer in business. I believe there is someone who has all there equipment and is producing cams. Thanks guys!

Have CompCams "cam doctor" a present intake lobe and then regrind all the intakes to one of their profiles which is really close to what is there. You don't need to regrind the exhaust side if you wish not.
Vice-versa if it's the exhaust lobes which need to be attended to.
They have done it for me numerous times.

Re: Regrinding Roller Cam
Yes, I'd say it's worth it! A few things to remember, the base circle dimension may be less than before so a few components may need adjusting.

Re: Regrinding Roller Cam
Thanks for the advise guys. I figured the pushrod length may have to change.
