chassis Dyno Results and problems
I went to the chassis dyno with my Falcon, Its got a 514,15 to 1 comp, Full Port by Charlie, Sollid Roller by Lem, New TFS INtake and a 1050 dommy.
The best the car did 664 hp to the wheels at 7k RPM, The car has a C6 tranny.
The miss varies on where total timing.
EX 28 deg total Timing miss comes in at 6200
EX 32 deg total Timing Miss comes in at 6600
Car made the most power at 32 deg total.
I don't know if there is a problem in dist. Going back with a new set of wires tomorrow and try. I really don't know what else to look for.
We did try an 1150 Dommy and lost 20 hp at 7K. Oper. told me this carb was a little leaner than the 1050. I also switched the rev limiter to 8500 rpm and started making a run and got an oil leak so we called it a night. I don't have the sheets in front of me this is all from memory, He said he would get me all the data tomorrow morning,Appreciate any help
Thanks Tore

Re: chassis Dyno Results and problems
Distrib. locked out Tore? Mine made peak power at 32deg. too. Don't think wire miss would change with base timing changes. Would look at distrib or box maybe? Must be something rpm related? You try plugs? I picked up 8hp on dyno with plugs!

15 to 1 comp, 112 octane fuel, bringing a different coil, locked out dist, and putting in new plugs, l can't remember what they are gapped at.

Re: chassis Dyno Results and problems
I'd say you would also benefit from a fuel octane increase. The 112 might not be enough for a 15:1 compression ratio.

could be way lean up top too. Try a little carb tuning first.

Wouldn't the O2 sensoe pick that up?

It may not show on one or two cylinders going lean? I never trust the O2 stuff totaly. Read the Plugs too.
Could have a couple of bad plugs too.

Is 112 octane to little??? I think my son-in-law has some 116 I might be able to try.

Octane
I think for 15-1 you need C-16 or try Q16 if you want another 10-14hp LOL. My iron head engine at 14-1 liked VP C14 and Q16.

Re: chassis Dyno Results and problems
What should I be looking at for a A/Fuel ratio mixture # using a O2 sensor??

Re: chassis Dyno Results and problems
Tore, I'd try 1 thing at a time. I know we discussed alot of this this morning, but you might fatten it up a little on the main jet ,then read the plugs.Sounds like it could be a lean miss.check plug gap also.

Re: chassis Dyno Results and problems
I just went over there pulled plugs 1 & 7 and they are rich. Plugs we're blk. That last run was an aborted hot run so I knw there was no idle time. I have 91s in 4 corners. I am going to put in a new set of plugs tonight.
Rick I am going to try one thing at a time, try the fuel 1st and then move on. The dyno operator keeps saying I don't think you have enough adv and all I have read is 30- 31 is about sweet spot for the P51 heads. I will try it tonight. Be 90 deg here tonight doing this stuff. Hope all you other guys are keeping cool.

Re: chassis Dyno Results and problems
X2, this is not a chevy motor! It was the same way for me at dyno, let's put more timing in it..... Dropped like a rock. And thats with A429s. You'll get it Tore. Mine is 15:1 comp too, but I run on Alky. I ran gas one time at track, and it was C16. Its big $$$$!

My son-in-law just went and picked up some Late Model Plus from Turbo Blue and we are trying that tonight.
Will see how that works out.

Re: chassis Dyno Results and problems
Well its all better. We changed plugs and fuel and its ok. I got some Late Model Plus from Turbo Blue. Everything fell in, no miss, plugs looked great,Made the best power at 30 deg total timing. Made 674 hp at 7k rpm. It was so hot tonight about 95 deg we had fans blowing but it didn't help alot.
For all that replied and emailed or called me thanks alot I appreciated the input.
